How We Evaluate Women's Health Supplements

Every comparison and review on this site uses the same set of criteria. Publishing them here is meant to make the process checkable — you can apply the same checklist to any product, including Hormovance, rather than taking our conclusions on faith.

The Criteria, in Order of Priority

1. Full Dose Disclosure (Disqualifying if Failed)

If a product uses a proprietary blend that hides individual ingredient doses, it's effectively unrateable — we can't check the dose against research, so we can't respond with meaningful confidence about whether it's likely to work. Products in this category get excluded from direct recommendations, though they may still appear in comparison content.

2. Doses Checked Against Published Research

For each disclosed ingredient, we look for the dose used in the clinical research behind it and compare that to what's on the label. A meaningful gap (e.g., a dose that's a fraction of the studied amount) gets flagged even if the ingredient itself is legitimate.

3. Manufacturing Standards

We check for GMP certification (third-party audited manufacturing) and FDA-registered facility status (a specific, verifiable claim, unlike vague "FDA compliant" language). Neither guarantees effectiveness, but both are baseline quality-control signals.

4. Stimulant Load

We note whether a formula relies primarily on high-dose stimulants (which produce fast but often unsustainable effects, with jitters and crashes) versus non-stimulant mechanisms like AMPK activation and blood sugar support, which tend to build more gradually but without the same side-effect profile.

5. Price Per Effective Dose, Not Price Per Bottle

A cheaper product with underdosed ingredients is often more expensive per effective dose than a pricier product that's dosed correctly. We calculate cost relative to whether the doses are in a meaningful range, not just the sticker price.

6. Return Policy Length

Because most ingredients in this category need 3-8 weeks to show effects, we consider a refund window under 30 days insufficient for a fair evaluation, regardless of how generous it sounds in marketing copy.

What We Don't Weight Heavily

Testimonial volume and star ratings are easy to influence and don't tell you much about dosing or manufacturing quality, so they're not a significant factor in our evaluation — though we do read them for pattern issues (see our label red-flags guide for more on spotting suspicious review patterns).
